Is My Body Too ACIDIC aka TOXIC?

Welcome! I have a weighty issue that I’m trying to conquer.  Once I turned 40, my body changed, and it was hard to lose weight.  I asked myself if my body was too acidic, because I felt fatigued with lingering headaches, lacked energy and always had skin issues.  Finally, I began to listen to body and I discovered that I was not feeding it the proper foods it was craving to carry me through the day. I’ll admit, I LOVE FOOD, but my body was too acidic/toxic!

Robert O. Young & Shelly Redford Young say that “The body retains fats as a protection against the overproduction of acids produced by the typical American diet.” They go on by saying that, “Excess acid in the body starts to break down cells in your tissues and organs—pretty much the same way acidic steak sauces tenderize meat. Cell breakdown sends the body into self-preservation mode; it uses dietary and body fat in a desperate attempt to protect itself, no matter what costs. The bad news: Over the long term, those fat/acid deposits create a whole bunch of health problems. The bottom line: You are not overweight, you are over acidic. Your fat is actually saving your life. By keeping your body alkaline rather than acidic it allows your body to let go of unnecessary fat cells forever.”

This is why I’m on a mission to eating more fruits and vegetables that will alkalize my body and bring it back to a pH balance that it deserves. Remember we only have one body and its up to us to treat it like a temple. Below is a simple chart of acidic/alkaline foods that I found on an app and downloaded to my IPad/IPhone called FoodPH.  This app helps me select the high alkalizing foods that I can incorporate in my life, and which highly acidic foods I enjoy now that I need to stay say goodbye to.

For me to succeed, I decided to create this blog and write about my journey to a healthy lifestyle.  If I stay focused and always present with my thoughts and cravings (as they always arise), I’m confident it can help me achieve my goals to great health.  I hope to inspire and motivate you along the way.  I know it’s not going to be easy, and if I do fail, I will start all over again until I get it right.  I’m no longer going to see weight loss as a struggle; I just need to know what works for Betsy.
